Having pale skin that is oily and very prone to breakouts its so difficult to find a foundation that actually works for my skin type. So many foundations that you find in drugstores and too orangey or too pink. Revlon Colorstay has been my trusty foundation for more than 8 months now, but it doesn't match my skin perfectly and this is why I looked into Clinique.
Clinique have a special line for blemished skin that I was really keen to try out and review. I've also purchased the three step system after reading mixed reviews, and am still seeing how my skin reacts- so that is for another time!
The woman at the counter matched my skin with the colour and foundation she thought was good for me and I was so excited to have my makeup done (such a child) that I was too caught up to actually see what the foundation looked like. So off I went and bought this foundation in Fresh Alabaster (01), which is the lightest shade, at the price of £23.
The price is in the same range as MAC's foundations, but I'm so impatient and was in need of a foundation that I couldn't wait to try and visit a MAC store so thought that this would do.
The packaging is so lovely, it is very light and it does not look like it is likely to leak, which unfortunately my Revlon Colorstay tends to do.
So that is some of the information on my skin and the price.. but what did I actually think of the foundation?
I applied the foundation the following morning in natural sunlight, and saw straight away how orange it was. Even the lightest shade is far to dark for my skin tone, and it really is such a shame because this foundation provides amazing coverage and feels so light on the skin. It also gives a matte finish which is great, but I do find it is quite drying on my skin and I find I can only apply the smallest amount of powder because if not it will just cling to the dryness which is very unattractive!
Overall, if you have more of a yellow undertone this foundation could really work for you. However, I would only suggest this foundation if you are slightly more olive skinned or a NW/NC 20-25.
For the price, I would not repurchase as I feel that is too different from my skin colour and I do not like it enough to try and work with it.
I hope this helped with anyone who is looking into purchasing this product!
